This race is put on by the Long Beach Rowing Association. It’s made up of quite a few really nice people, so I joined to support their activities. This particular race is a 1,000m sprint which has been shortened to 850 meters because of space constraints. Usually a race is cancelled when the wind is so strong that white caps are rolling over. This one was just about that bad. The wind was reportedly 14 mph and we went right into the face of it. All things considered, I think that we did very well coming in third. In the last two months, I think I’ve learned enough about rowing in the wind to help push us a good deal faster. But it was a lot of fun anyway.
